Grateful to S___

Week 7, Pediatric posting. I met a very cooperative and cute 7 years old patient in the ward. A mother and a son. The son was having fever with the saddle appearance. He was suspected to have dengue hemorrhagic fever. The little boy was so cute and cooperative. I managed to clerk a very complete history and do all the physical examination on the boy. His mother knew that I was a medical student and I mentioned to her that I wanted to learn. Her mother allowed me to check the boy thoroughly. Basically I was practising for my coming end-of-posting clinical examination which will be held on the following week.

After the practice, I won't leave the patient just like that. It was because I do not want to approach a patient just for the purpose of learning. I think that was a little bit selfish. I always took at least 5 to 10 minutes to chat with the patients before I left them.

I chatted with the mother, found out that she was a Christian and we are actually attending the same church in Sitiawan there. I was really grateful to the patient and his mother for helping me so much in my learning. Just feel so bad because I can't do anything in return to them, showing my appreciation because of their kindness.

The patient's name is S___ (pt confidentiality, hehe ). I was happy when he was discharged on the 5th day of his admission.
